Moderation: Dr. Martin Hoffmann Zusammenfassung: Fleischproduktion und -konsum stehen im Zentrum der gegenwärtige Debatte um eine nachhaltige Zukunft. Eine Reihe von Gesellschafts- und Umweltproblemen werden damit verknüpft: Entwaldung, Treibhauseffekt, Tierleid, Überernährung, Billiglohnarbeit und so fort. Für diese Debatte lohnt es, einen Blick in die Vergangenheit zu werfen. Dass Menschen in exzessiver Weise Fleisch produzieren und konsumieren, ist Ergebnis einer - historisch gesehen - jungen Entwicklung: der Fabrikation des Fleisch-Komplexes im globalen Industriekapitalismus seit etwa 1800. Der Vortrag diskutiert Rahmenbedingungen, Triebkräfte und Schlüsselakteure dieser Facette des "Anthropozäns" - und benennt damit die Ursachen von Problemen, um deren Lösung wir heute ringen.
