Dieses mehr als einstündige Video spannt einen Bogen über ein Projekt, das vor rund 40 Jahren begonnen wurde: Es zeigt in einer ruhigen Abfolge mehrere hundert Tableaux (Zusammenstellungen) aus dem Ewigen Archiv, in Themenkapitel geordnet. (Timecode der Kapitel unten)
Dass dieses Video nun in dieser Form vorliegt, verdanke ich neben der Unterstützung und Mitarbeit vieler am Gesamtprojekt vor allem Monica Parii / On Screen, die es einfühlsam, geduldig und präzise digital produzierte und Felix Del Tredici, der den wunderbaren Soundtrack mit vielen Musiker*innen organisierte und beistellte. Das Ewige Archiv – 1980 von Peter Putz gegründet – versteht sich als dynamische Enzyklopädie zeitgenössischer Identitäten. Es ist eine der umfangreichsten nichtkommerziellen und unabhängigen Bilddatenbanken Österreichs, mit einem Bildbestand ab dem Jahre 1905, mit Metadatenverzeichnis und detaillierter Beschlagwortung. Schwerpunkt ist die permanente fotografische Notiz: Spurensicherung des Alltags, Dokumentation und Vergleich unterschiedlicher Lebens- und Arbeitsräume. Diese Aufzeichnungen verdichten sich zu größeren Bezugsräumen und bilden ein facettenreiches Gewebe verschiedenster Realitäten mit besonderem Augenmerk auf Spektakulär-Unspektakuläres. Bilder der Sammlung werden zu themenbezogenen Tableaux zusammengefasst.

This more than one-hour video spans an arc over a project that began some 40 years ago: it shows in a quiet sequence several hundred tableaux from the Eternal Archive, arranged in thematic chapters. (Timecode of the chapters below)

The Eternal Archives – founded in 1980 by Peter Putz – sees itself as a dynamic encyclopaedia of contemporary identities. It is one of the largest non-commercial and independent picture databases in Austria, with a picture stock from 1905, with a metadata index and detailed indexing. The focus is on the permanent photographic note: securing the evidence of everyday life, documenting and comparing different living and working spaces. These recordings are condensed into larger reference spaces and form a multifaceted tissue of various realities with special attention to the spectacular-unspectacular. Pictures of the collection are collated into topic-related tableaux.
