Animal Music Symposium I Teil 2

Das "Animal Music Symposium" versucht sich den unterschiedlichsten Aspekten der musikalischen Tier-Maschine Interaktion aus einer interdisziplinären Perspektive anzunähern. International anerkannte Expert/innen aus den Gebieten der Verhaltensforschung, Informatik, Zeitgenössischer Kunst und Kulturwissenschaften werden die musikalischen Fähigkeiten von Tieren diskutieren und die neuesten wissenschaftlichen, kulturellen und ethischen Erkenntnisse aus diesem Gebiet präsentieren. Dieses Symposium und die begleitenden Ausstellung im Salzamt sind Teil des von "alien productions" initiierten künstlerisch-wissenschaftlichen Forschungsprojektes "metamusic", das sich dem Design von Musikinstrumenten für Graupapageien widmet, einer Spezies die für ihre außergewöhnlichen kognitiven und musikalischen Fähigkeiten bekannt ist.

Auf die Keynote von Irene Pepperberg folgen Präsentationen von Clara Mancini, Julian Klein, alien productions, Reinhard Gupfinger, Marisa Hoeschele, Daniel Gilfillan und Fahim Amir. Am Vorabend wird das Symposium mit einer metamusic Performance und einer Keynote von Helmut Kratochvil im Atelierhaus Salzamt eröffnet.

The "Animal Music Symposium" intends to approach the various aspects of musical animal-machine interaction from an interdisciplinary perspective. Internationally renowned experts from the fields of animal cognition, computer science, contemporary arts and cultural studies will discuss the musical capabilities of animals and present the latest scientific, cultural and ethical findings in this field. This symposium and the related exhibition at Salzamt are part of the ongoing artistic-research project "metamusic" initiated by "alien productions", which is dedicated to the design of musical instruments for grey parrots, a species known for its outstanding cognitive and musical abilities.

The keynote will be held by Irene Pepperberg, followed by presentations by Clara Mancini, Julian Klein, alien productions, Reinhard Gupfinger, Marisa Hoeschele, Daniel Gilfillan and Fahim Amir. The evening before the symposium will be preceded by a metamusic performance and keynote by Helmut Kratochvil at Atelierhaus Salzamt.

This event is curated by Univ.-Prof. Martin Kaltenbrunner and organized by the University of Art and Design Linz in collaboration with alien productions, ARGE Papageienschutz and Atelierhaus Salzamt. The metamusic project AR 349-G24 is funded by the Austrian Science Fund (FWF) programme for Arts-based Research (PEEK)
