Short Introduction to DOVE (DORFTV Online Video Editor). In the need of finding a new Playout System for DORFTV that was capable of playing archive files as well as live streams, easy to handle remote and based on Free Software we ended up in developing DOVE. DOVE is an API for creating and mixing gstreamer pipelines. It includes a a web based frontend to facilitate the daily work of DORFTV’s production team (and hopefully others) It’s heavily inspired by BRAVE, a prototype developed by BBC’s R&D, which unfortunately was abandoned in favor of internal systems. In this talk I want to give a brief overview about DOVE’s functionality and provide some insights on the challenges we’ve faced during development and the things we want to implement next and how you can help make the project thrive.
