Eine Kunsthochschule braucht keinen Fokus auf Neues, denn es ist selbstverständlich, dass dort aktuelle Kunst produziert wird. In einer Musikuniversität wird die Musik aus fünf Jahrhunderten gleichzeitig gelebt und es ist eher eine Ausnahme, Werke aus unserer Zeit hören zu können.
In Zusammenarbeit mit der Internationalen Gesellschaft für Neue Musik Oberösterreich veranstaltet die Anton Bruckner Privatuniversität das Festival „Leicht über Linz” mit dem Fokus auf der Musik der Gegenwart.
