We are constantly negotiating the private within the public, while the public is increasingly permeating the private. On both a large and a small scale: from the political framework of existence, to personal preferences, to surveillance within our own homes. The digital disrupts these familiar structures and not only provides space for self-(re)production, but is also fundamentally shaped by its contradictions. Glitches make the invisible norm visible: Photobooth selfies next to tax returns, theory PDFs next to playlists. Favourite folders, open tabs, the music player, all of it simultaneously shapes and represents identity. Following the cursor on a small journey through this digital refuge, this trailer celebrates kitsch and ruptures in all forms.

Ela Kielhorn is a filmmaker working across various media formats, with a particular emphasis on experimental and feminist approaches to filmmaking. Born into a Kurdish-German family in Augsburg, they began developing their practice while studying Theatre, Film and Media Studies at the University of Vienna while working in the institute’s research department. Their work focuses on the intersection of feminist and surrealist art cinema, hyperrealism, and the aesthetics of horror. Drawing on both the theoretical and practical, Kielhorn engages deeply with the genres’ potential for subversion and psychological exploration.
