And I could have watched Colline Serrault's Romeo and Juliette for a million times, Milch und Schokolade, one of my first films in the cinema, and I could watch this film millions of times. In den letzten Tagen wurden atemberaubende Filme aus 39 Ländern hier beim Crossing Europe Festival gezeigt, die das Publikum auf eine tolle Reise mitgenommen haben, quer durch Europa, von Norwegen bis in die Türkei und von Portugal bis ans Schwarze Meer. Auch morgen habt ihr oder haben Sie noch die Gelegenheit, einem vollen Festivaltag beizuwohnen und ins Programm einzutauchen, das aus insgesamt 133 Spieldokumentar- und Kurzfilmen besteht. und Kurzfilmen besteht. Vier Wettbewerbe sind Teil des heutigen Programms, in denen insgesamt 13 Jurymitglieder in vier Juries heute Abend die Preise vergeben werden. Zudem werden außerdem noch der Preisträger bzw. die Preisträgerin des MIUB New Vision Awards 2026 verkündet. And before we jump right to the Film Awards, I'm really happy to announce this year's winner of the Golden Bag Schaufenster Contest, eine Kategorie, die ich sehr liebe, denn wenn Sie Linz mit offenen Augen betrachtet und beobachtet haben, haben Sie vielleicht schon die wunderschönen Schaufenster bemerkt, die in der Linzer Innenstadt im frischen Grün erstrahlen. Das hat eben mit dem Golden Bag Schaufenster Contest zu tun und das diesjährige Motto lautete Hearts of Europe. Großes Herz, kleines Herz. Im Rahmen dieses Contests werden jedes Jahr Preise an die teilnehmenden Geschäfte und Shops vergeben. Ich hau nicht mehr auf, Entschuldigung. So whether it's the catering, upcycling festival materials, efforts to encourage as many guests as possible to use public transportation or waste reduction and consistent waste separation, just to name a few examples. Also uns geht es hier um eine nachhaltige Veranstaltung und eine Wichtigkeit oder eine Priorität, die schon seit einigen Jahren besteht. And these efforts deserve to be rewarded today. Simple as can be, but as difficult as can be at the same time. In these times, it's very easy. But the Climate Alliance is the oldest and the biggest network for saving the climate in Europe. network for saving the climate in Europe and we work on climate adaption and in saving the climate with communities with schools of kindergartens with companies and yeah they have we we really have a lot of many different projects and we try to make the people to have interest and fun in saving the world. And we really think of the power of culture and the power of cinema to help us to do this. Wonderful. So why particularly are you here tonight? We're here tonight to hand you over the official certificate of Green Events. Okay, wow. It proves that Crossing Europe is considering the potential impact the event might have on the environment. Und natürlich haben wir Leute in unserem Team, unsere lieben Kuratorinnen, die uns helfen und uns unterstützen, Filme zu wählen und sie zusammen zu machen, wie ein Art Puzzle, das Programm. Wie fühlst du dich heute Abend nach den letzten Tagen? Ich weiß nicht, ich denke, es ist ein bisschen wie eine Zwischen-Situation, weil am Anfang des Festivals denkst du dir, oh ja, das Festival hat angefangen I don't know, I think it's kind of like a bit of an in-between situation, because in the beginning of the festival you're like, oh yeah, the festival started and then time flies, and now it feels like, how is it possible that it's already almost over? But luckily it's not over yet, we have this event tonight and we have tomorrow as well, so a whole day more of festival. Every year there are obviously special moments. So what are your personal special moments in 2026? Maybe for me, I have to think now, but I think I'm quite sure about it. It's always, this year, the first day of the festival, we started with the first screening. It was a school screening at Central and it was full and lots of young people and energy. And as soon as the film starts, for me, it's a really special moment. Of course, in the evening, there's the festival opening, but being at the first screening together with the young people is the best for me. Yeah, I think meeting each and every festival guest is always kind of a special thing, because many of them you don't know before, and then you greet them for the first time. And I had a special moment this year, I think I will remember for a long time. I was on a very short elevator ride in this building with a lot of guests, and we had to check how many people are allowed in the elevator. And that was a really brief but very nice moment. in the elevator and that was a really brief but very nice moment. So we have tonight another peak and then tomorrow, and then we have the next week. So what are you going to do, ladies? Relax? Sleep a little? As part of the JAS Youth Program, students from HTL 1 Linz, the HBLA School of Art and Design and Borg-Kriss-Kirchen have created 21 short videos, also Teasers, the JAS-Teasers, and all of which can be viewed on the Crossing Europe channel. And tonight werden wir drei Teaser sehen. Und hier kommt schon mal der erste Teaser mit dem Titel Waiting Time. Nå er vi på Norske Norske Norske Norske Norske Sehr, sehr cool. Wir wollen aber jetzt keine Sekunde weiterverwenden und tauchen ein in die Film Awards Ceremony. Wir starten mit der ersten Wettbewerbsveranstaltung, Local Artists. So, once again, this year the competition Local Artists demonstrates just how diverse and creative the Upper Austrian Film Scene is. So from short films and experimental works to music videos and feature-length documentaries, it's a magnificent showcase. A total of 46 films were screened in this section und an dieser Stelle begrüßen Sie mit mir für die Vergabe des Innovation Awards in dieser Sektion die Mitglieder der diesjährigen Local Artist Jury, die ich jetzt auch zu mir auf die Bühne bitten möchte. Frau Gemeinderätin, I won't ask you how do you do, but where in particular do you see the challenges for creatives in Linz and Upper Austria? Gleich mal eine vielleicht etwas herausfordernde Frage. I would say one of the biggest challenges actually is the economic situation. And when companies are under pressure, creative work is often one of the first things they cut back on. And they focus on the necessary, most necessary things. And they tend to postpone investment in creative work or new ideas, design etc. Dieser Preis belongs to the animation film. Welchen Stellenwert hat dieser Bereich eigentlich für das Land Oberösterreich? Bevor ich die Frage beantworte, ich werde auf Deutsch antworten. Voll in Ordnung. Bevor ich die Frage beantworte, bedanke ich mich einmal für die Einladung und möchte an dieser Stelle die besten Grüße und Glückwünsche an alle Preisträgerinnen und Preisträger auch von unserem Landeshauptmann Mag. Thomas Stelzer übermitteln. Dankeschön. Also meine Berührungspunkte mit Animationsfilm, Animationstechnik sind eben nicht gegeben, aber darum finde ich genau solche Veranstaltungen extrem spannend. Aber das Land Oberösterreich ist ein Kunst- und Kulturland und legt sehr viel Wert darauf. Und wir in Oberösterreich unterstützen dieses Filmfestival deshalb, weil wir das Spektrum der Filmbilder erweitern wollen, weil wir das Genre der Animationsfilme pushen wollen und vor allem, wir haben es schon gehört, an den Schulen auch Schwerpunkte gesetzt werden, auch an unserer FH. Und wir wollen einfach neben dem künstlerischen und experimentellen Film auch den Animationsfilm in Oberösterreich wesentlich stärken. Und generell kann man sagen, dass so eine Veranstaltung wie heute hier vor allem eines ist, es ist nämlich ein verbindendes Element hier, das Miteinander, Grenzen aufzubrechen, Grenzen zu überwinden und vor allem auch den Zusammenhalt und das Miteinander in Europa zu stärken und ich denke, dass es in Zeiten wie diesen wirklich ganz, ganz wichtig und ich möchte an dieser Stelle wirklich noch einmal Danke sagen, wir haben es an der Leinwand schon gesehen, dem gesamten Team an der Spitze mit Sabine Gebetsrötter und Katharina Riedl, die Crossing Europe zu dem machen, was es ist, nämlich eine ganz, ganz tolle Visitenkarte für Oberösterreich. How one can approach this big issue in the short form of a seven-minute film in a way that is aesthetically ambitious and appealing is shown by our winning film in the Local Artists Innovation Award category. Over 3,000 single frames of tree barks form the starting point of this audiovisual work of art, where beauty and menace are pushed together, until at the end the banality of concrete is revealed. Schön, dass du heute hier bist. Robert, can you tell the audience, manche sind ja auch zum ersten Mal da, what exactly does post-production involve in the filmmaking process? Well, post-production is pretty well-filled, which doesn't start after the film is done. It doesn't originally start at the very beginning, before the process in January begins. But let's give you an example. Like, if I scratch my head, we all know that sound, right? I can hear that, but you don't. This is what we do record while fully recording. Or another thing would be, imagine a cabin in the woods. There's a lot of green trees, there's blue sky, there's some clouds. It sounds romantic somehow. If we now bring all those colors a little down, make the picture a little darker, and instead of, maybe we have heard birds before, and afterwards we just hear cold wind, that doesn't make the scene that cozy anymore. There are films that collect their memories in archives. This film is building on itself. Between childhood pictures, stories about the arrival of a family in a foreign country, and a desire to belong, something rare evolves. A look back is at the same time also a look ahead, because memory is confronted with oblivion. The own mother's beginning dementia makes it not a tragedy, but an emotional, richly illustrated road movie, whose mission is to reconstruct the own biography, so that future generations will have a few of their family ties, to draw on the motto of this year's festival edition. We, for our part, can feel very fortunate that Jola Wischerec also shared this history with us, which is why we are awarding the Local Artist Award material prize to her wonderful film, Days Yet Unknown. Die Stärke ist generell die Vielseitigkeit, die Europa da in den verschiedensten Facetten einfach darstellt. Und vor allem tragen lokale Filmemacherinnen, Filmemacher, wir haben sie jetzt auch gerade gesehen, wirklich dazu bei, diese Vielseitigkeit als Botschafterinnen und Botschafter für Oberösterreich zu nutzen. Und durch diese internationale Vernetzung, die wir hier haben, trägt das Festival längst schon dazu bei, dass es die Wälder obertaut und verbietet vor allem unseren lokalen Künstlerinnen und Künstlern die Möglichkeit, eine Plattform zu haben und sich zu präsentieren. Und vor allem, dass sie sich auch in ihrem sich zu präsentieren und vor allem, dass sie sich auch in ihrem künstlerischen Schaffen und Wirken weiterentwickeln können. Gabriela, director of the film Renovation says, thank you so much to the jury for recognizing our film, for hearing its quiet vibrations in the loud and often overwhelming world. Among other themes, Renovation talks about how the war in Ukraine affects us in Lithuania and I would like to use this opportunity to honor all the artists who had to set aside their work in order to defend their country, standing up for freedom and for all of us in Europe. I feel very privileged to be able to make films in a free and peaceful country, and I hope it remains that way. And congratulations again to all of the winners of tonight. Ich weiß zwar jetzt nicht, was diese zwei Preise noch, wenn ich sie übergeben würde, dann wahrscheinlich an Sabine Gewetzreuther und Katharina Riedler für ihre großartige Arbeit. Und abends mit den Vorführungen von zwei Preisträgerinnen filmen um 19 und um 20 Uhr. Ja, für heute Abend gilt es eigentlich nur Party oder Party from 10 pm. There is the last nightline of this festival with the DJ crew Medusa Collective at the Okadek. Also wir freuen uns schon sehr auf einen langen Abend, auf eine coole Nacht and a reminder to all award winners, to all award sponsors and jury members, please don't go away. Nicht perfekt, irgendwo weird, aber vielleicht in gewisser Weise deswegen ein bisschen perfekter als irgendwas Künstliches. Und dieser Abend bedeutet mir sehr viel, weil genau das unsere Filme auch transportieren, das Leben, die Menschen mit all ihren Facetten, all ihren Schwächen und ihren Stärken.
