you The American Pronunciation Guide Presents ''How to Pronounce Lindt'' Welcome to a very special edition of Lindt International Short Film Festival. of Lind's International Short Film Festival. 2020. What a ride. Have you had these moments where you thought, should I do it or should I just let it go? Should I try everything possible to stick to my plans and somehow find a way to make it happen, to maybe find out afterwards that it's not going to happen, but to still hang in there. And then there were those moments of doubt where you thought, let's just wait until all of this is over and let's just skip it this year. We've had those moments. And yet we think 2020 is more important than ever to create platforms for dialogue, for intercultural dialogue. A platform to celebrate diversity. To celebrate diversity in our universality and yet our universality in our diversity. We are amazed about the amount of short films we have received within the last month. 3,405 from 121 different countries. All those films tell their individual stories, rooted in their heritage, in their language, in their culture. And yet they tell those stories in a way that we can all refer to somehow and reflect our own life stories in them. Yet individual, yet universal diversity. So I'm very happy to welcome Parisa Gassmi and Ashkandi Matian on our festival stage. This is going to be our hangout for the next days and we are going to hang out on Festivy together. So make sure that you get your festival pass on our website because this is the entrance to our festival universe. And as it's the case at the moment, we hang out on Zoom, we hang out on Festivy, and we use this to connect and exchange our experiences. And we heartily welcome you to join us there. Before I go into the details of the program, I'm very happy and pleased to welcome Parisa Gassemi and Ashkan Limatyan on our virtual stage here at the Kunstuni at the Art University of Linz. Parisa and Ashkan have founded the association Close Film that was two years back in 2018. And I would say they are the perfect role models when it comes to a commitment to intercultural art, culture and film. Please welcome Parisa and Ashkan. Thank you. Danke, liebe Claudia. So gesehen kommt erneut zusammen, was zusammengehört. The festival is run by the association Close Film and it has been founded two years back in 2018 by festival directors Parisa Gasseemi and Ashkani Matian with their aim to present independent films and support intercultural exchange via cultural events. So from what I've heard Parisa and Ashkani have been watching 3405 short films that have been submitted this year from 121 countries. And I would say that's a sign that this dialogue is more than necessary. This year so many committed short films coming from all over our global village. I'm going to take a walk in the park. This year's opening film, a real masterpiece of cinematography. It has been nominated for the Oscars. It has been nominated by various festivals, including the Cannes Film Festival. It's been nominated and awarded by the American Film Institute, just to name a few. Limbo by Konstantina Kotsamani is a 30-minute Greek short film with an atmosphere that will blow you away. There will be a panel discussion throughout the festival again and again. There will be a panel discussion throughout the festival. Again, there will be different kind of formats, such as Zoom meetings with experts and short filmmakers. There will be a Q&A session for a dialogue, for an exchange with various filmmakers. Of course, there will be a way to exchange on how the pandemic affected you and your work life and your life in general and to find a dialogue to be able to get involved and to just be connected with you wherever you are and get you involved involved with us because it's not just about us presenting for you, as you know, the festival, it's about sharing our experiences, our stories together.
