🎵 A social and cultural project in Linz, a meeting place for the residents of the neighborhood and Anna Jansen will tell us a little bit more about it. Thank you. Okay, thank you. I'm very glad, we are very glad that you are coming to visit our little project. It's a really bottom-up grassroot project. Since 2019 the neighbors around here and even longer ago people saw this old building and it's getting more and more empty. The shops are closing. This one was until 10 years ago, it was open. And now there's only the little Trafic in front, the last shop which is still working. And people were scared they want to tear down this building when the Trafic is closed. That's why the neighbors and also a great network of organisations working in Frankfurtl, they are shown here as a universe. And some of them are down here on these lines, on the other window also, and they show that there are a lot of organisations and clubs and they show that there are a lot of organizations and clubs and private persons and artists and ateliers they are all interested in working together and using this old special building it's from the 50s as you probably see and it's very unique and there used to be many in limbs but most of them are torn down meanwhile and as you see a lot of other buildings are torn down now around here and this is really a place of identification. Since many years all the people used to meet here at the shops and everybody knows the kiosk so that's one reason more why the people are really getting into since 2019 people were getting into action to save this place and meanwhile it's a cultural heritage it's safe protected because of our initiative so they it will not be torn down and now people are still interested in working together for this place and also since 2019 we are having projects here so we have a little garden all this time and every Tuesday we have a cafe a neighborhood cafe in front. You have to go to the front side of this building, it's really the chocolate side you say in German, I don't know if you say that in English also. And in front under this big roof every Tuesday a group of people meet and have cafe together and they bake their cake together and they, without commercial attitude, they just want to sit together and help each other and it's a really strong community meanwhile. And one of the community members is Armandus, he's filming today and if you don't want to be on the picture, I'm a little late. I hope it's no problem for you to be on the film because we try to, whenever we have people recognizing our little initiative, we are glad to have films on Dorf TV. And we have a lot already, we have a lot of discussion with architects and planners and social people working in social work and artists and a lot of people came here to discuss with us what can be in this place for the community, for a good neighborhood. And some of the people working together, it's not only Amandus from the neighborhood cafe, there's also Inge Bammer. She used to be director of the elementary school for very many years. How many years? Twelve years. And she worked there before as a teacher also. And Bernhard Hummer, we both did together two cultural projects which were funded by the city and we had exhibitions, really artistic things in the windows but also the things that the people from the neighborhood make themselves like jam or whatever or they paint themselves so we had a really big and colorful mixture of people working here of people celebrating together or getting active for a mission to save this building and to have a community place here. I have some information about the kiosk, like the invitation for the neighborhood cafe, which is today afternoon at two o'clock it starts. And also we were in the museum, the city museum of Linz had an exhibition about prototypes for future development of the city, how can a city live better in future. And we were one of the five prototypes for neighborhood community and working together, helping each other. What else is there to say? Do you want to... Other questions? It's still quiet, so... I'm just wondering what is the funding model or how do you substitute yourself or how can you run all these activities, how does it work? I imagine it's a bit tricky. Yeah, it's a very good question. Because there's no club or organization or anybody who is constantly responsible. So we are a team of very engaged people and that started already in 2019 because we have a social platform from the community center where you go later they do like every two months a meeting of all the organization of the of the Frank Vettel and we discuss problems or if there are activities concerts expositions whatever and that's where we found so many people and so many organizations who were interested in this building and doing something with it. And we just, in this platform there were five people saying we are like the main team, organizing team trying to solve the problems and to steer the ship through the whatever. And this changes all the time. I mean I'm still in the team, Inge Bammer is still in the team, Bernhard Hummer was a little later, like one year later or half a year later, he came with the cultural project, we did that together, but we are very stable since a very long time in this team, but other people are changing. For example, Anita, you will meet her later at the Tellerrand, she used to be in the team before here also, and then she switched over there. Because we are all doing the same thing. We are trying to make the Frankfurt a better place and to get more mixture into the people living here. So they communicate and they talk with each other and not against each other. Did that answer the question? Thank you very much. I think this building is in a way becoming like a symbol of Frank Fiertel because everything is changing so fast and being demolished. I think we will need more people like you and we will need more bottom-up projects like this. Thank you. Thank you very much. Do you have more questions? I saw the exhibition at the museum. It was fantastic. I was really, really, really impressed and touched because it showed a lot of love for the area and also love for the kiosk and I'm just wondering how did you organize yourselves to write a proposal and then to approach the city to get the funding? Was there already a funding scheme that you found out about or how was that done? Since LINZ has every year fundings which regularly always occur and this one year it was 2019 also we found this Kulturviertel was the name. So the viertel is Frank Viertel and cultural impact. And they had especially the topic of empty buildings. So this was really like made for us. We said okay this is an empty building and also corona was coming up and we said we can have exhibitions without contact in the windows and that's how we started out and afterwards we always looked for other foundings actually the the one was a big one and then we had like small ones. But the problem is since nobody of us is in an institution and paid for what we are doing here. Even the fundings, we don't get paid from the fundings. We just pay the money for the things we do. So that's why it's a lot of work to do the things, to organize the things. And then to have all the bills paid and all the organization with the city so that there would be more fundings but it's so much work that we sometimes say oh we just do less and now we're like that we are lucky we had this museum and we are lucky we have this film project with Dorf TV and Amandus is doing the films and we have some things and the Nachbarschaft, the neighbourhood café and the garden and so there are things just running and running and a lot of people are working on it. But to have the power and to do a big step it's hard and we're a little bit waiting. Now since cultural heritage is safe, we're waiting for the city to renovate and to give us a chance to be in there and do community work. We don't have much money so that's why they're not like yeah do it but we still hope and communicate to to find a good way how we can process our community work and how they can renovate the building for a public use so it's good for all but we are waiting and we have one special problem because when we are doing cafe and all these things we need water and electricity and we don't have that in there and we don't have a key. So we have office over there, a social player, it's for health, their health organization, social organization and that's where we can take the water and the cafe and the toilets and all this and without the KOMBÜRO we can do all this, all the garden, the water and everything. So this is a little thing if the KOMBÜRO, we don't know how it goes on and so we are always a little struggling but that's why we are so glad that you're coming and we're getting a little bit of attention and hopefully soon we'll find a good way with the climate climate font we are also talking for a good project to do together to get things further. Any more questions? Okay and if you need more information there's a really good website with a QS heart.
